Decision Making

During the decision making phase the assessment team uses the information gathered to discuss tools, devices, services, and strategies that are needed to help the student access the curriculum and improve outcomes. This decision making process typically follows the SETT Framework (Student, Environment, Task, and Tools) which guides the team to discuss and make decisions about possible AT, Tools (both devices and services), and Strategies.
The following guide is based on the SETT Framework which is also included in the Virginia Assistive Technology, Tools, and Strategies (VATTS) Consideration Guide. It is a designed to be used with teams, including family members, who know the student. It is important that this information be collected in a format where all participants can see the documentation and contribute to the discussion.
